Sunday Night, Serving, and Thanks to You

Some random reflections at 11:13 p.m. on Sunday night:

I  am so tired!  Been a long weekend, with lots of stuff. 

CVC's 11th birthday celebration was this weekend....powerful experience of God's presence and we baptized 16 people.  THAT never gets old!

Tonight was amazing...and a lot of work!  We finally pulled off an "Oscar" style party for 300 of our volunteers and did it with grace and elegance.  Massive kudos to the whole team.  God is good!

My oldest daughter Jennifer came home from Regent, where she earned her MFA and is now serving as the Graduate School of Communications recruiter.  More important than that,   she is getting married this coming week to Derek Martin.  THAT is exciting and amazing.

I am excited about Jennifer and Derek's wedding, and all the family and friend reunions that will take place.  The ceremony is pretty small and the wedding will be intimate; sad we can't have all our friends there, but excited at the holy time it will be.  Really emotional that I will be transferring my covering of Jennifer to Derek.  I do so with joy and some sadness, to be honest.

Two weeks...really!

If you have ever watched the movie with Tom Hanks and Shelly Long called Money Pit, you know what the phrase "just two weeks" is all about (the "guesstimate on how long the house renovation project will take).

So...it seems like I'm in a terrrible pattern re blogging...SORRY!  Every two weeks or less often, I seem to get focused again.  Part of that is that I'm riding two really amazing streams of God's working right now...CVC and Thriving Churches, where I am helping my friend Ray Johnston to launch the organization as their Executive Director.    The link is to the annual Thrive conference, where some amazing folks will be present and we will launch the national organization.

Any way...back at the ranch, God has been doing awesome things at CVC and at Thriving Churches International.  In just the last 6 weeks, we have met or exceeded attendance records for CVC and our series, "Live Like You Were Dying" that we borrowed from some good folks was awesome.  In fact, I encourage you to visit the Live Like You Were Dying site .  It is like a 40 Days of Purpose campaign (Doug Slaybaugh, cool guy and former PD Executive Director is part of the project); we customized a bunch of stuff and then ended up having an amazing experience all 4 weeks!

I'm in a zone right now where I'm just thanking God every minute for the chance to be part of what He is doing all around me.

Oh yeah...my oldest daughter is getting married in two weeks...and I am definitely NOT mature enough for that! 

Celebrating IT happening at CVC

As many of you know, we have had a number of posts these last several months about how God is at work at CVC.  This weekend was yet another step in that process.  So many things to thank God for:

-Worship that was truly heaven sent

-Relationships with Executive Team members that are growing deeper and stronger all the time

-Decisions being made in the church as people draw close to Him.  That is causing a ripple effect in all their relationships..

Jesus on the move...and we are gonna follow as close as we can!
