So...you might wonder why we called this team the WARTS team? They are the Worship Arts Team of CVC. They have given themselves this rather unflattering name.
So...why do I love them so much? Here are just a few of the reasons:
1) I love Christmas and Easter...and I'm grateful for a WARTS team that loves the holidays along with me. Our church family and community benefits from them.
2) I love that they are each gifted in their own ways. This is a team that has 5 key players....each one has strengths and weaknesses...and they complement each other well
3) They LEAD and SERVE our people well. You know as well as I do that music is subjective. Probably more subjective than any other arena of church activity. This year at Christmas, they have simple HIT THE BALL OUT OF THE PARK! Week one was a student led service with a focus on student style worship (which they just nailed!), week two was more traditional with our choral ensemble, and week three was a "Country Christmas". Then, as if that wasn't enough, they pulled off our first of 4 Christmas Eve services this past Sunday night (with over 540 people present!) and did an amazing mixture of classic, funk, contemporary, and all kinds of awesome sets, lights, video, etc.
4) I love that they are willing to practice continuous improvement. Each Saturday night service they are willing to make tweaks, eliminate things that took really hard work, and make the experience better each time...which is all about giving the Holy Spirit maximum opportunity to work
5) Finally...I love that they relish the partnership of teaching and worship together to bring the people of God into His presence and invite people who have not yet come to know Christ to take that step.
I love our WARTS team!
